Day 30
Last one! It’s been fun, 30-Day Challenge!
Your highs and lows of this month.
Highs: holidays at home, my wonderful family and friends, cookies, Christmas lights, good therapy, crystallizing moments, productivity
Lows: hard work and associated stress, graduation/job anxiety, frustration from family (wonderful though they are), trouble from chronic conditions, general fatigue

Semicolon, underscore, ampersand, bracket.
Working still—I am deliberately scarce, though I’m peeking over occasionally and seeing all the 2010 summaries and 2011 well wishes trickling in. I’d like to do one myself shortly, when I can allow a more substantial break. It just feels right to put a punctuation mark on it, so to speak.
13,436 characters of code in this design so far. (And I wrote it all today…!) I should make...

Good Fucking Design Advice →
It really is, you guys.
I’d love to set up a wall-mounted machine above my work desk that just keeps this site on a refresh timer.

Day 29
Ahhh! Home stretch!
Goals for the next 30 days.
Get more work. Get more portfolio pieces. Tighten up my resume. Get an internship. Draw pictures. Take photos. Make things that make me happy. Do good things. Be with good people.
And, on a more grounded note, get a Mayo Clinic appointment and get there, as soon as is feasible. And see what my options are. But I hate to linger on that point too...

Things I did yesterday:
Got up before noon and managed not to pass out again, somehow.
Got new—to me—car detailed (it is lovely and smells of vanilla).
Made it to the post office before closing and unburdened MY VERY SOUL in so doing.
Had yummy pizza + Tazoberry tea, which, while barely tea, is awfully good juice.
Hung out with dear friend Nick for magical latte (his) and tea...

The eternal question: do I hate this unfinished site’s design because I’ve been held up on producing body copy for so long (“so long” = three days, but still)? Or do I hate it because I actually hate it?
I’ll probably whip up an alternative design sometime tonight, just to see if it does the trick. I can’t help myself, really. Ugh, I need to pull this all...

Day 28
Okay, um. I’ve got to do at least one of these first. I’m behind again. And it’s important, you know.
Something that you miss.
Just one thing? Just randomly? Who misses just one thing in the universe at any given moment?
I do miss London. I think this is from 2005, the last time I was there. It’s been too, too long.
(This isn’t a very good picture. I’m...

Here are some things
Why isn’t CSS3 an approved standard yet? Why is the number three such a hex on the tech world? CSS3, USB 3.0, Blu-ray… also, can I just say, I know that’s how you’re supposed to write Blu-ray, but it looks wrong.
My parents have TOO MANY DOGS. (Five, plus my one.) I cannot say that I will miss the canine chaos when I return from break.
Car is being detailed, so I...

Day 27
A problem that you have had.
The inevitable divide between the internet self and the physical self. Not in that I consciously screen my words or behaviors behind the keyboard—actually, I think my internet persona, today, is more accurate to any other self than it ever has been. (You’re only getting a certain view here, though. Obviously a personal blog is a little more navel-gaze-y...

I am so, so tired. But my first public Tumblr theme is, as of several minutes ago, submitted and awaiting moderator review! Now I can sleep tonight (seriously). Though I did, in my exhausted state, accidentally submit the theme first from this account—the wrong one—which necessitated going back, changing the name to “Please Delete”, and blanking out the code to replace with...

Boy, I wish someone had warned me that December was going to be Get In Touch With Your Estranged Ex Month. The Ghosts of Christmas Past are on Facebook in the 21st century.

Design, anyone?
Since I am far too anxious busy to do anything right now besides crank out design pieces and attend to basic human needs, I’m going to open this to the Tumblesphere, just in case. I am looking for design ideas! Since this is Tumblr, I expect that suggestions will run along the vein of Tumblr designs, but I’m open to various options…
So have at, please! By all means! Anything I...

I just noticed.
All of the torn paper button images that make up the Tumblr dashboard have tattered edges that “fit” together sequentially, as though they were ripped one-by-one from the same strip. They could have just done random tattered edges and called it a day, but no…
Look at them! I’m serious! The attention to detail!!
I gained so much respect for the Tumblr art team from...

Day 26
Caught up again! Merry Un-Christmas!
What kind of person attracts you.
Someone beautiful; someone smart; someone kind; someone who makes me laugh; someone confident enough to love themselves, love me, and love all the things that they love without shame or regret.

Day 25
Someone who fascinates you and why.
“Fascinates” feels like such a strong word, as though I should be overcome by dreamy distant wonderment at each single mention of a name. I think that’s probably not what they’re getting at.
I have a lot of admiration for the 14th (and current) Dalai Lama. Here is a religious figure who is almost universally respected, even among...

Day 24
Your favorite movie and what it’s about.
Hmm, weeeeell. Tricky! I tend to like different movies for different things. Well, To Kill A Mockingbird is great—it’s a classic film starring Gregory Peck (who is ~*amazing*~ in it), based on the novel of the same name, of course. If you haven’t read the novel to know what the movie is about, please do so. It’s really a...

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of you reading out in Tumblr Land! I don’t know many of you well, but I’ve been happy here in just these few months. Let’s become better friends, post more good things, and click more hearts in 2011!

The medication is no longer working. I’m not sure how soon yet, but it looks like we’ll be making a trip to the nearest Mayo Clinic at some point to discuss my options. It’s a somewhat mixed note for Christmas Eve.
Still, I have a cup of tummy tea with me to keep me soothed and settled, and I’m enjoying the company of my sweet and wonderful family with Cary Grant and...

I hate it when you have a crappy dream and wake up vaguely upset because of someone who didn’t actually do anything.
Anyway, unrelated to that, I found a recipe magazine I’d been looking for to no avail previously, so now I have at my disposal a seriously delicious cookie recipe for tonight’s Christmas Eve baking adventures. I’m hoping that I can swipe a stand mixer to...

Day 23
Give pictures of 5 guys who are famous who you find attractive.
Oh, boy. Okay!! This is kind of hard, actually. The trappings of ~*fame*~ just don’t do it for me on a particularly deep level, maybe. I keep drawing blanks.
I’m just picking five. Bam. Doin’ it. And putting it behind a break for the sake of your dashboards.
Marlon Brando. Paul Newman would also fit into this...

Day 22
How have you changed in the past 2 years?
Ugh, distracted mind. Hard to focus on this right now. I’ll try to be brief while still covering it.
Vastly, vastly more self-confidence.
Less resignation to a certain role/appearance/perception from others.
Less shyness (or, at least, increasingly skilled at compensating for it).
More independent. (Driver’s license!)
Better hair...
nakedniko asked: I don't want to sound creepy, but I'm pretty sure I'll wear those cufflinks for my own wedding now. And if my fiance doesn't like em, I'm pretty sure it won't work out. haha. :] -fanboy till the end-

Day 21
One of your favorite shows.
Need you even ask?
(GIF courtesy of themoonprincess, who makes truly beautiful things!)
You can like it for the pretty, or for the humor, or for the schoolgirls in tiny skirts. I love it for everything. It makes me happy.
And if you’ve never seen it in the original Japanese, I highly recommend that you try it at least once. Ask me about it, even!

Found my Pokéball project base item on eBay with a $6.99 Buy It Now price, but I decided to be a cheapskate (because money is tight this month) and place the first bid of $3.99 instead. Now I’ve been outbid several times, and the price is hovering somewhere around $10.50. My regret is profound and eternal.
Stomach feels weird this morning. This is pretty much a daily thing now. I’m...

Microwaves
I don’t like staring directly into the microwave when I’ve got something in there, but unless it’s a frozen meal or some such, you’ve got to keep an eye on it somehow… so I just end up standing slightly aside, throwing furtive glances towards the door every so often. Like I’m being coy with it. ”Is he looking this way? Oh god.”

Day 20
How important you think education is.
It is objectively important to global culture and society. There’s no getting around it. My opinion has no bearing on the absolute truth of that statement.
As far as my feelings are concerned, it’s important to me, for myself and for any potential partners. I adore knowledge and the pursuit of it, and I think anyone who hopes to know me well...

Day 19
Disrespecting your parents.
What about it? These are getting somewhat obtuse.
Don’t do it, kids. That’s not cool.
No, but seriously… I don’t, really. I’m sure I did as a teenager, though, and that’s clearly the target demographic for this challenge, so I get why it’s here. I don’t remember the things I said, but they were probably pretty...
